Sadly, the WATCH D.O.G.S. program has been suspended until further notice. We look forward to running this program again in the future.

What do WatchDOGS do at ICSAtlanta?

On your volunteer day you will receive a personalized schedule to follow throughout your day. You will receive a brief orientation when you arrive.

 Typical schedules might include:

  • Assist with carpool in the morning and afternoon
  • Volunteer in several classrooms throughout the day
  • Work in the Learning Commoms (Library)
  • Help out in PE class and recess
  • Eat lunch with your student(s)
  • Work on projects throughout the school – anything from cutting, laminating, copying to ‘handyman’ type projects to anywhere in between.

Will I get to visit my student’s classroom(s)?

If you speak the language that your child is learning you will be able to help in your child’s L2 language class.  If you speak only English, you will be able to help in their English classroom. You will always have lunch with your student, and you will probably join them for recess too!

Your day will consist of a variety of activities — you will have lots of time in classrooms this year. The focus is getting WatchDOGS into classes in the school three days a week. Just relax, have fun, and experience the immersion atmosphere! You might be in PE class too.

How will WatchDOGS coordinators communicate with me?

All communication and reminders will be handled via email. Please check your spam folder periodically to make sure you are not missing messages. We contact participants occasionally when there are unexpected openings in the schedule or other volunteer opportunities. The program is run by parent volunteers, and we are not able to follow up via phone or text with individual participants.
