Book Character Dress-up Day

October 31, 2023

Students at both campuses are invited to dress up as their favorite book character. Additionally, please have your students bring their favorite book (to match their character costume).

Lower Campus:
Students and staff will participate in a parade of characters at 10:00 AM. Parents are welcome to come and stand outside the school to enjoy the short parade.

Upper Campus:
We will have our annual Book Character Costume Contest! To be eligible for the contest, upper campus students must both dress as a book character and bring a corresponding book. He or she will then be entered to win a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place Best Book Character Prize. We will have a short assembly to announce the winners and showcase some of their literary selections! This is for students and staff only.

IMPORTANT: Please do not send to school any type of food or candy. If food items are brought to school, they will be sent back home with your child or kept in the front office. Please keep in mind that ICSAtlanta policy stipulates only 2 classroom parties per year that involve food from home (holiday party and end of the year party).

Out of uniform dress day code will be in effect. Please do not send your child to school in inappropriate attire. The purpose of Book Character Day is to enjoy the season together and make connections over literature–please keep costumes related to a book character. No violent selections or weapons.

The following types of clothing are considered inappropriate at ICSAtlanta during Book Character Dress-up Day:
Shorts and skirts that are too short: Note: Style and material may make certain garments inappropriate even at appropriate length.
Spandex shorts or leggings worn alone, or without a garment of appropriate length.
Shirts or blouses that expose the midriff; “see-through” garments.
Clothing which advertises alcohol or substances that are illegal for minors or display suggestive phrases, designs, markings, or profanities.
Tank tops, strapless tops without wearing a jacket, and some thin, strapped tops when too much skin is exposed.
Shirts or blouses with elongated arm openings or opened in the front or sides without an undershirt.
Pants with holes in them, unfastened belts, exposed underwear.
Clothing that displays weapons, violence, gang affiliations, or other logos that cause dissension.
